Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez, along with three other major awardees from Aklan will be honored as the region celebrates this year’s Western Visayas Tourism Assembly 2009 in Capiz December 4-6, according to the Provincial Tourism Office here.

As the leading awardee from Aklan of the Western Visayas Tourism Excellence Awards 2009, Governor Marquez will be conferred the Regional Director’s Award.  Manager Jose Parreño, Jr. of Discovery Shores Boracay, will also receive the Regional Director’s Award while Ms. Roselle Q. Ruiz of Aklan Provincial Tourism Office will receive the Special Award, Tourism Officer (Provincial Level).  The Discovery Shores Boracay on the other hand, will be awarded for being the Best Resort (Class AAA) in the Awards Night to be held at Nestas, Roxas City.

Other activities to be held during the 3-day event are the Regional Tourism Exhibit/Fair; Regional Tourism Congress, the Search for Miss Western Visayas Tourism 2009, Travel Invitational and Food Festival.  (PIA/Venus G. Villanueva)
