The number of tourists,
both foreign and local who visited Boracay Island from January to July of this
year have reached 778,801, according to Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez.
Marquez shared this development to Aklanons through his monthly report of the
province’ activities and programs aired over RGMA-DYRU, one of Aklan’s local
radio stations.
This year’s 7-month arrival, the governor said, is 38% higher than last year’s
tourist arrivals for the same period.
January to July’s tourist arrivals last year reached 564,173.
The month of July this year, owing to unfavorable weather condition, had only
76,003 tourists visiting Boracay. It was noted however that in the past
month, more foreign tourists went to the island than domestic ones.
Foreign tourists in Boracay last month reached 35,674 while domestic tourists
were listed at 34,742.
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who visited the island, on the other hand,
reached 5,587.
The visitor arrivals in from January to July generated a total of P14.1 billion
in tourism receipts. Meanwhile, jetty port collections for the 7-month
period this year reached P116,768,417.19, 50% higher than last year of the same
