Refreshed Boracay Island shores hail a horde of Aklanons and visitors during the conduct of the AKLAN DAY BORACAY REOPENING SALUBUNGAN 2018 along the 3-kilometer long beachfront. The “salubungan” was held October 15, 2018 after a series of very tedious six-month rehabilitation efforts since the island’s closure spearheaded by the Aklan Provincial Government and the Municipality of Malay with the strong collaboration of DENR, DOT, DILG, DPWH, DOTR, DOLE and DOE. Today symbolizes a revival of a new era especially for the hopeful Aklanons and the Boracaynons with the re-opening of Boracay to tourists, just like a hen that lays her golden eggs naturally.
